Minister for Trade, Hon Chirau Ali Mwakwere on Friday said that The Trade Fair will provide an opportune platform for showcasing various products that include plastics; rubber; packaging; paper; office stationary;printing and converting industries.
Mr. Mwakwere said the move by the government to liberalize the economy, which was taken over ten years ago, has laid the foundation for an investment- friendly environment in the country, hence opening the economy to more international business community and investors who wish to participate in the socio and economic development of the country.
On Kenya vision 2030, he noted that Kenya’s aim is to attain and maintain a sustain an economic growth of ten percent over the next twenty years .To attain this, he said that government is devoted by development of several infrastructure and strengthening of public institution to enhance rapid development in the country.The minister told investors that the country has many areas of investment in which they can consider venturing into hence advised them to get a lot of information on this aspect from Government Department, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other business organizations.
In the speech read on his behalf by Senior Deputy Secretary Joyce Isiaho, at the official opening ceremony of Plastpack Africa 2011 and paper print Africa 2011 international trade fair, urged the exhibitor to consider investing in the country since Kenya is strategically and geographically situated hence being a hub at East African Community and COMESA.
