Kenya and Slovakia Hold a Business Forum to Bolster Trade and Investment Ties

Kenya and the Republic of Slovakia convened a Business and Development Forum in Nairobi aimed at bolstering trade and investment ties between the two nations amid shifting global economic dynamics.

The forum brought together officials from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), business leaders, private sector players, investors, and representatives from both countries. Discussions focused on unlocking mutual cooperation in trade, investment, ICT, green energy, healthcare, agro-processing and tourism.

Speaking at the event, the Principal Secretary for Trade, Regina Ombam, said Kenya’s strategic position as a commercial hub and gateway to East and Central Africa makes it an ideal entry point for Slovakia in regional markets and the entire continent.

“Kenya offers Slovakia a stable base for access to the region’s wider market and the African continent .Amidst global trade dynamics we are diversifying our trade partnerships to reduce vulnerability to external shocks,” PS Ombam said.

Slovakia’s Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár, described Kenya as a key partner for Slovakia in East Africa. He noted that the forum will deepen bilateral relations and create direct linkages between businesses.

“This forum provides a concrete opportunity to connect companies, share expertise, and enhance development cooperation for the mutual benefit of our two nations,” Blanár said.

Also in attendance were Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano, Principal Secretary for Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana and KEPSA Chairperson Ms. Jaswinder Bedi.
