Milestone as Chinese Investors Commit to Set Up in Kenya

Kenya has secured a major investment boost as seven Chinese companies signed deals to invest in the country. This development is expected to significantly contribute to job creation and economic growth.

The agreements were signed during the Kenya-China Investor Roundtable held in Beijing, which was attended by H.E. President William Ruto, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, Principal Secretary for Investment Promotion Mr. Abubakar Hassan, among other senior officials.

The companies committing to invest include, China Wu Yi, Chongqing Shancheng Apparel Group Co. Ltd, Rongtai Steel Co. Ltd, Kenya Smart Transportation Industry Park / Anhui Jiubao Electronic Co. Ltd, Shandong Jialejia Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Co. Ltd, Zonken Group and Hunan Conference Exhibition Group / Hautian Hotel Management Company.

President Ruto commended the role of China's private sector in Kenya’s development, noting their continued contribution across key industries.

“We endeavour to encourage even greater participation of China's private sector in our journey of economic transformation. This will create thousands of jobs for our youth,” said H.E. Ruto.

The signing ceremony was part of the President’s state visit to the People’s Republic of China.
