PS Trade Regina Ombam urges women exporters to leverage on trade agreements to access global markets 

Principal Secretary for Trade Regina Ombam has urged women entrepreneurs to tap into regional,continental and international trade agreements to expand their business portfolios beyond borders.

PS Ombam said the trade  agreements provide women a platform to access new international markets and urged them to leverage on technology to take advantage of the global opportunities.

She however noted that women entrepreneurs must understand the conditions and standards required to access these markets and reiterated the State Department’s commitment in providing export opportunity information and guidance on international market requirements for the women to compete competitively.

The PS spoke today during the AccerelateHER Trade Summit held at the Sarit Centre,Westlands.

Cathelijne van Melle, Senior Programme Manager at CBI Government of the Netherlands highlighted that despite progress in women’s entrepreneurship, access to finance and international markets remains a significant challenge, with women entrepreneurs facing more barriers than their male counterparts.

She underscored the need to create a supportive ecosystem where women-led businesses can thrive and foster collaboration among key stakeholders including innovators, investors and policymakers to strengthen inclusive trade.

The summit brought together female founders and entrepreneurs,Trade Support Institutions,corporate partners,government officials and policymakers.
