Kenya and Sweden Deepen Trade and Investment Cooperation

Kenya and Sweden have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening existing collaborations and exploring new opportunities for partnership in trade and investment.

The Principal Secretary for Trade Regina Ombam, held a meeting with Håkan Åkesson, Ambassador of Sweden to Kenya, alongside representatives from the Embassy of Sweden and the National Board of Trade Sweden (NBT), to discuss ongoing and potential areas of cooperation.

The discussions underscored the longstanding cordial relations between the two nations and focused on expanding Kenya’s exports to the Swedish market, enhancing capacity building programmes and strengthening institutional linkages.

The NBT shared updates on key initiatives, including the Trade Academy Programme, which builds the capacity of trade officers, and the Open Trade Gate Sweden (OTGS), which supports developing countries in accessing Swedish and EU markets.

They also proposed collaboration in trade statistics development, policy analysis, and alignment on sustainability standards.
