Kenya and Uganda Advance Cross border Cooperation to Facilitate Trade

Delegations from both Kenya and Uganda reconvened for the 2nd Joint Technical Committee meeting on Thursday at the Malaba One Stop Border Post to review progress in cross-border cooperation.

Led by Kenya's Deputy Director, State Department for Trade, Joseah Rotich, and Uganda's Principal Commercial Officer, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Rita Elizabeth Auma, the delegations assessed advancements made since the first Joint Technical Committee meeting in August 2025.

Rotich commended border agencies for their commitment to improving operations at the One Stop Border Post, noting the positive impact on trade and movement along the corridor.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and implementing agreed actions to enhance efficiency and support cross-border trade.

The delegations also visited the Lwakhakha OSBP to ensure alignment and progress at both major border points.

This meeting demonstrates Kenya and Uganda's commitment to deepening economic ties and promoting regional integration, ultimately enhancing trade and investment opportunities for businesses and citizens of both countries.
